Atlantium’s HOD (Hydro-Optic Disinfection) technology in essence turns the UV lamp inside out: instead of water flowing around a UV lamp, it flows through the lamp. The lamp acts as a pipe; the UV light is reflected back into the middle of the pipe using the concept of Total Internal Reflection (the same phenomenon used in fiber-optic cable). The HOD unit kills Cryptosporidium and Giardia, yeasts, molds, spores and the most resistant strains of bacteria.
